New drone attack causes fire at Russia's Ilsky oil refinery: Report

A drone attack on the Ilsky oil refinery in southern Russia, the second in as many days, has caused a fire, TASS news agency reported on Friday, citing emergency services.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the incident. Ukrainian officials do not usually claim responsibility for such attacks inside Russia's territory, although they sometimes celebrate them using euphemistic language.

A source at refinery told Reuters that an aerial cooler at the CDU-5 column, which has an annual capacity is 1.8 million tonnes, was hit. Another primary unit at the plant has capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per year.

That cooler could be replaced within a couple of weeks, though the impact is yet to be fully accessed, the source added.

The press service at the plant was not immediately available for comments.

Thai king fires more officials for 'extremely evil' conduct, poor performance

        BANGKOK: Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has fired four more officials, two palace announcements said on Tuesday (Oct 29), the latest shake up after the sacking of the king's royal consort last week.
In one announcement, two palace officials, identified as bedroom guards, were fired for "extremely evil misconduct" and "adultery", which it said was a violation of a code of conduct for courtiers.

           In another document, two military officers were fired for being "lax" in their duty as palace guards and "behaving unbecomingly of their ranks and titles".
The four were all stripped of their ranks and titles, the announcements said.

The four dismissals on Tuesday followed those of six palace officials last week, who were accused of severe disciplinary misconduct that caused harm to the royal service.

Sujith Wilson: Indian toddler stuck in borewell dies

A two-year-old boy, who had fallen down a well in southern India on Friday, has been found dead.

Early on Tuesday officials in Tamil Nadu said Sujith Wilson's body had been retrieved in a decomposed state, following an 82-hour rescue operation lasting four days.
Sujith had fallen into the abandoned borewell while playing with friends.
He had initially been stuck at about 10m (30ft) but then fell further into the 180m-deep abandoned well.
Officials said "special equipment" was used to retrieve the body from the well, and a team of doctors "took around 45 minutes to confirm his death and give a special report".
"We found his body to be highly decomposed," Tamil Nadu official J Radhakrishnan told reporters on Tuesday.
The body was sent to a government hospital for autopsy and then handed over to his parents, who buried him later in the morning.
A borewell is a narrow shaft drilled into the ground to extract water. Heavy machinery had been used to try to dig a second hole parallel to the one the child fell into.

Efforts to rescue the boy involved German-made drilling machines, firefighters, rescue workers and oxygen supplies but they were slowed down by the rocky soil and rain.
India was celebrating its Diwali holiday over the long weekend and the rescue operation gathered widespread social media attention.
Prayers were held in temples, mosques and churches across Tamil Nadu for his safe return and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also tweeted his concern for the toddler.
The main opposition Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi voiced his condolences after news of the boy's death was announced.

California faces huge power cuts as wildfires rage

An estimated 1.5 million more people in California are set to lose power on Tuesday as a utility firm tries to stop damaged cables triggering wildfires.

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) already faces an investigation by regulators after cutting supplies to 970,000 homes and businesses.
It announced that another 650,000 properties would face precautionary shut-offs on Tuesday amid high winds.
Wildfires fanned by the strong winds are raging in two parts of the state.
Thousands of residents near the wealthy Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles have been told to evacuate because of a wildfire that began early on Monday.

California's governor has declared a state-wide emergency.

What about the power cuts?

On Monday regulators announced a formal inquiry into whether energy utilities broke rules by pre-emptively cutting power to an estimated 2.5 million people as wildfire risks soared.
They did not name any utilities but analysts said PG&E was responsible for the bulk of the "public safety power shut-offs".

"If you are in an evacuation zone, don't screw around," Mr Schwarzenegger tweeted. "Get out."

LA fire chief Ralph Terrazas said fire crews had been "overwhelmed" by the scale of the fires.
"They had to make some tough decisions on which houses they were able to protect," he said.
"Many times it depends on where the ember lands. I saw homes that were adjacent to homes that were totally destroyed, without any damage."

In northern California, schools remain closed in Sonoma County, where tens of thousands of homes and businesses are under threat.
Sonoma has been ravaged by the Kincade Fire, which started on Wednesday and has burned through 50,000 acres of land, fanned by the winds.

The Kincade Fire began seven minutes after a nearby power line was damaged, but PG&E has not yet confirmed if the power glitch started the blaze.
About 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, with roads around Santa Rosa north of San Francisco packed with cars as people tried to flee.
There are fears the flames could cross the 101 highway and enter areas that have not seen wildfires since the 1940s.

Has China really banned PewDiePie?

You would be forgiven for thinking so. After all, several major international news websites have written headlines about the world's most popular YouTuber being "wiped" or "banned" from the internet in China.
But there is one tiny problem - it did not happen.
Fanpages for PewDiePie still exist on Chinese social media, and a cursory search for his name on Baidu - China's Google - returns 8.28 million results.
PewDiePie himself originally claimed to have been banned in a video on Saturday but he later appeared to make light of the supposed block, suggesting he was not being completely serious.
He joked on Twitter that he had punched a wall in outrage.
"Well boys, we did it," he said in Saturday's video, which has been viewed 6.5m times. "I'm banned from China."
He continued: "I spoke about the Hong Kong protests, and showed their leader being mocked for looking like Winnie the Pooh."
He added searches for his name now bring up no results on certain forums and video platforms.
But did not mention that searches for him on video sites like iQiyi and Tencent Video still return tens of thousands of results.
Chinese authorities have banned any comparison between President Xi Jinping and Disney character Winnie the Pooh since 2017.
Put simply, the government is extremely sensitive about how the president is regarded and seeks to maintain the perception he is loved and praised by the country's 1.4bn population.
The Pooh comparisons were propelled back into the public consciousness in October 2019 when a South Park episode heavily criticised the Chinese government.

The show was subsequently largely made unavailable in China, with any search for it on social media and video websites returning no results.
But this has not happened to PewDiePie: Some content related to the YouTuber has indeed been made inaccessible online, such as a Baidu-run forum about him which has removed messages and even prevented people from posting new comments.
But there is no evidence to suggest this was done on the orders of the government.

In China, the general rule for censorship is: if something is too violent, sexualised, or goes against the government's message, it will be banned from the country.
Several manga and anime (Japanese comics and cartoons) are banned for the first two reasons.
Meanwhile celebrities are usually barred for the third reason. For example, Lady Gaga was reportedly denied a Chinese visa in 2016 over her meeting with the Dalai Lama.
With regards to PewDiePie, the censorship of the forum seems to be Baidu acting out of an abundance of caution.
The government has certainly not demanded that the search engine erase mentions of PewDiePie. A search for his name still returns more than eight million results.

అంతర్జాతీయం యునెస్కో రక్షిత జీవావరణ రిజర్వుల జాబితాలోకి అగస్త్యమల ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి సాంస్కృతిక సంస్థ యునెస్కో జీవావరణ రిజర్వుల జాబితాలో భారత్‌లోని పశ్చిమ కనుమల్లోని అగస్త్యమల ప్రాంతానికి చోటు దక్కింది. పెరూ రాజధాని లిమాలో మార్చి 19న ముగిసిన యునెస్కో అంతర్జాతీయ సమన్వయ మండలి సమావేశంలో కొత్తగా వివిధ దేశాలకు చెందిన 20 జీవావరణ రిజర్వులను వరల్డ్ నెట్‌వర్క్ ఆఫ్ బయోస్పియర్ రిజర్వ్ జాబితాలో చేర్చారు. దీంతో మొత్తం 120 దేశాల్లో ఉన్న రిజర్వ్‌ల సంఖ్య 669కి చేరింది. కేరళ, తమిళనాడుల్లోని పశ్చిమ కనుమల్లో ఉన్న అగస్త్యమల ప్రాంతంలో 2,254 ఎత్తై జాతి రకానికి చెందిన మొక్కలతో పాటు 400 విశిష్ట లక్షణాలున్న మొక్కలున్నాయి. రష్యాలో కూలిన విమానం.. 62 మంది మృత్యువాత రష్యాలో జరిగిన విమాన ప్రమాదంలో 62 మంది మృత్యువాత పడ్డారు. ఈ ప్రమాదం మార్చి 19 వేకువజామున దక్షిణ రష్యాలోని రోస్తోవ్ ఓన్ డాన్ పట్టణంలో జరిగింది. దుబాయ్‌కి చెందిన ఫ్లైదుబాయ్ సంస్థ విమానం.. విమానాశ్రయంలో దిగటానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తున్న సమయంలో వాతావరణం సరిగ్గా లేకపోవడంతో నిట్టనిలువునా నేలను ఢీకొంది. ఫలితంగా జరిగిన భారీ పేలుడు వల్ల విమానంలో ఉన్న 62 మంది సజీవదహనమయ్యారు. మృతుల్లో ఇద్దరు భారతీయులు కూడా ఉన్నారు. 37వ సార్క్ మంత్రుల సమావేశం సార్క్ దేశాల మంత్రుల 37వ సమావేశం నేపాల్‌లోని పొఖారాలో మార్చి 14 నుంచి 17 వరకు నాలుగు రోజులపాటు జరిగింది. భారత విదేశీ వ్యవహారాల శాఖ మంత్రి సుష్మాస్వరాజ్ ఈ సమావేంలో పాల్గొని ప్రసంగించారు. సార్క్ దేశాలను మరింత అనుసంధానం చేసేందుకుగాను దక్షిణాసియా ఆర్థిక సంఘం(ఎస్‌ఏఈయూ)ను ఏర్పాటు చేయాల్సిన అవసరం ఎంతైనా ఉందని అన్నారు. ఈ వచ్చింది. అంతర్జాతీయంగా క్యూబాను ఏకాకి చేసే ప్రయత్నమూ జరిగింది. 88 ఏళ్ల తర్వాత క్యూబాలో పర్యటిస్తున్న మొదటి అమెరికా అధ్యక్షుడు ఒబామానే. బ్రసెల్స్‌లో బాంబు పేలుళ్లు: 35 మంది మృతి యూరోప్‌లోని బెల్జియం రాజధాని బ్రసెల్స్‌లో ఉగ్రవాదులు వరుస బాంబు పేలుళ్లు సృష్టించారు. మార్చి 22న బ్రసెల్స్‌లోని జావెంటెమ్ అంతర్జాతీయ విమానాశ్రయంలో రెండు అత్యంత శక్తిమంతమైన పేలుళ్లకు, యూరోపియన్ యూనియన్ ప్రధాన కార్యాలయం జరిగిన పేలుడులో 20 మంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు. ఎయిర్‌పోర్ట్ పేలుళ్ల క్షతగాత్రుల్లో జెట్ ఎయిర్‌వేస్‌కు చెందిన ఇద్దరు భారతీయ ఉద్యోగులు నిధి చాపేకర్, అమిత్ మోత్వానీ ఉన్నారు. దాడులకు పాల్పడింది తామేనని వారు చందా చెల్లిస్తే... వారికి జీవితాంతం నెలనెలా నిర్ధారిత పెన్షన్ మొత్తం అందుతుంది. భాగస్వామి కూడా మరణించాక వారి నామినీకి ఏకమొత్తంగా పెన్షన్ సొమ్మును చెల్లిస్తారు. రాష్ట్రీయం తెలంగాణలో ‘ఎయిర్‌బస్’ హెలికాప్టర్ల తయారీ కేంద్రం తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో హెలికాప్టర్ల తయారీ కేంద్రాన్ని నెలకొల్పేందుకు ఫ్రాన్స్‌కు చెందిన ప్రసిద్ధ వైమానిక సంస్థ ఎయిర్‌బస్ ఆసక్తిని కనబరచింది. దీని కోసం రూ.120 కోట్ల మేర పెట్టుబడి పెట్టనుంది. ఈ మేరకు రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి ప్రతిపాదనలు సమర్పించింది. ఏటా వంద నేవీ, యుటిలిటీ హెలికాఫ్టర్ల తయారీ సామర్థ్యం గల పరిశ్రమ స్థాపన కోసం అంతర్జాతీయ విమానాశ్రయం సమీపంలో 40 ఎకరాలు కేటాయించాల్సిందిగా ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కోరింది. ఏపీలో ఫైబర్ గ్రిడ్ ప్రాజెక్టు మొదటి దశ ప్రారంభం రాష్ట్రంలో అందరికీ డిజిటల్ సౌకర్యం అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకొచ్చే ఉద్దేశంతో ఫైబర్ గ్రిడ్ మొదటి దశను ఏపీ సీఎం చంద్రబాబునాయుడు మార్చి 17న విశాఖపట్నంలో ప్రారంభించారు. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు ద్వారా 15 ఎంబీపీఎస్‌తో ఇంటర్నెట్, 100 టీవీ చానళ్లు, టెలిఫోన్ సౌకర్యం కల్పించనున్నారు. రూ.333 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో ఏపీ ఫైబర్‌నెట్ లిమిటెడ్ (ఏపీఎస్‌ఎఫ్‌ఎల్), ఐటీ సంస్థ సిస్కోతో కలసి ఈ ప్రాజెక్టును చేపట్టింది. వైమానిక సంస్థలతో టాస్క్ ఎంవోయూ వైమానిక రంగంలో ప్రఖ్యాతి గాంచిన యునెటైడ్ టెక్నాలజీస్ కార్పొరేషన్, ఎంబ్రీ రిడిల్ ఏరోనాటికల్ యూనివర్సిటీతో తెలంగాణ అకాడమీ ఫర్ స్కిల్ అండ్ నాలెడ్జ్(టాస్క్) మార్చి 17న అవగాహన ఒప్పందం (ఎంవోయూ) కుదుర్చుకుంది. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలోని యువతకు వైమానిక రంగంలో నైపుణ్యాలు, శిక్షణ, పరిశోధన అవకాశాలను కల్పించడమే ఈ ఎంవోయూ ప్రధాన ఉద్దేశం. హైదరాబాద్‌లోని ప్రాట్-వెట్నీ ఇండియా ప్రైవేట్ లిమిటెడ్ శిక్షణ కేంద్రంలో యువతకు, అధ్యాపకులకు ఎంబ్రీ రిడిల్ ఏరోనాటికల్ యూనివర్సిటీ అకడమిక్ శిక్షణ అందిస్తుంది. పారిశ్రామిక అవసరాలకు అనుగుణంగా కోర్సులను త్వరలోనే అందుబాటులోకి తెచ్చేలా ఆయా సంస్థలతో కలసి ప్రణాళిక రూపొందిస్తున్నారు. ద్వైపాక్షికం బంగ్లాదేశ్‌కు భారత్ విద్యుత్ బంగ్లాదేశ్, భారత్ ద్వైపాక్షిక సంబంధాలు మరింత బలోపేతం అయ్యే దిశగా మరో ముందడుగు పడింది. మార్చి 23 నుంచి బంగ్లాదేశ్‌కు భారత్ 100 మెగావాట్ల విద్యుత్ సరఫరా చేయడం ప్రారంభించింది. బదులుగా ఆ దేశం 10 జీబీపీఎస్ ఇంటర్‌నెట్ బ్యాండ్‌విడ్త్‌ను అందించనుంది. ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ, బంగ్లా ప్రధాని షేక్ హసీనా వీడియో కాన్ఫరెన్స్ ద్వారా దీనిని ప్రారంభించారు. ఈ ఒప్పందం చరిత్రాత్మకమని, ఈశాన్య రాష్ట్రాలకు ఉపయోగకరంగా ఉంటుం దని మోదీ అభివర్ణించారు. ఇప్పటికే మనకు పశ్చిమ, దక్షిణ ఇంటర్నెట్ గేట్‌వేలు ఉన్నాయని, ఇప్పుడు తూర్పున కూడా ప్రధానమైన ఇంటర్నెట్ గేట్‌వే ఏర్పడిందని మోదీ అన్నారు. బంగ్లాతో ఏర్పడిన ఈ ఈశాన్య గేట్‌వే అస్సాం, త్రిపుర, సిక్కిం రాష్ట్రాలకు కనెక్టివిటీని ఏర్పరచిందన్నారు. పవర్‌గ్రిడ్ కార్పొరేషన్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా వేసిన 400 కేవీడీసీ లైన్ల ద్వారా త్రిపుర నుంచి బంగ్లాదేశ్‌కు విద్యుత్‌ను సరఫరా చేయనున్నారు. ఆర్థికం ఫిబ్రవరిలో టోకు ధరల సూచీ ద్రవ్యోల్బణం -0.91 మార్చి 14న విడుదల చేసిన గణాంకాల ప్రకారం ఫిబ్రవరిలో టోకు ధరల సూచీ (డబ్ల్యూపీఐ) ఆధారిత ద్రవ్యోల్బణం(2015, ఫిబ్రవరితో పోల్చి చూస్తే) -0.91గా నమోదైంది. ద్రవ్యోల్బణం మైనస్‌ల్లో కొనసాగడం ఇది వరుసగా 16వ నెల. వినియోగ ధరల ఆధారిత సూచీ (సీపీఐ) ద్రవ్యోల్బణం ఫిబ్రవరిలో (2015, ఫిబ్రవరితో పోల్చి చూస్తే) 5.18 శాతంగా నమోదైంది. ఇది గత నెలలో 5.69 శాతంగా ఉంది. రష్యాలో చమురు క్షేత్రాల కొనుగోలుకు ఓవిఎల్, ఐఓసీ ఒప్పందాలు రష్యాలోని రెండు చమురు క్షేత్రాల్లో వాటాల కొనుగోలుకు సంబంధించిన ఒప్పంద పత్రాలపై ఓఎన్‌జీసీ విదేశ్ లిమిటెడ్(ఓవిఎల్), ఆయిల్ ఇండియా కార్పొరేషన్ సారథ్యంలోని కన్సార్షియం మార్చి 16న సంతకాలు చేశాయి. ఈ ఒప్పందాల విలువ సుమారు రూ.28,253 కోట్లు. ఈ కన్సార్షియం యురియక్ చమురు క్షేత్రంలోని 29.9 శాతం వాటాను రష్యాకు చెందిన రోస్‌నెఫ్ట్ నుంచి కొనుగోలు చేసింది. సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీ అంగారక గ్రహానికి రష్యా-ఐరోపా వ్యోమనౌక అంగారక గ్రహంపై జీవం ఉనికిని గుర్తించేందుకు రష్యా-ఐరోపాలు సంయుక్తంగా ట్రేస్ గ్యాస్ ఆర్బిటర్ (టీజీవో) వ్యోమనౌకను ప్రయోగించాయి. దీన్ని ప్రోటాన్ రాకెట్ ద్వారా మార్చి 14న కజికిస్థాన్‌లోని బైకనూర్ అంతరిక్ష కేంద్రం నుంచి ప్రయోగించారు. ఈ నౌక 49.6 కోట్ల కిలోమీటర్లు ప్రయాణించి ఈ ఏడాది అక్టోబర్‌లో అంగారక గ్రహాన్ని చేరనుంది. ఇది అరుణ గ్రహాన్ని చిత్రీకరించడంతో పాటు అక్కడి గాలిని విశ్లేషించననుంది. అంగారకుడిపై మీథేన్‌ను విశ్లేషించడమే ప్రధాన లక్ష్యంగా తాజా ప్రయోగాన్ని చేపట్టారు. ఈ ప్రయోగానికి ఎక్సో మార్స్-2016గా పేరుపెట్టారు. అగ్ని-1 క్షిపణి ప్రయోగం విజయవంతం స్వదేశీ పరిజ్ఞానంతో అభివృద్ధి చేసిన మధ్యంతర శ్రేణి బాలిస్టిక్ క్షిపణి అగ్ని-1 ప్రయోగం విజయవంతమైంది. ఒడిశా తీరం సమీపంలోని వీలర్ ఐలాండ్ లాంచ్ ప్యాడ్ నుంచి సైన్యానికి చెందిన వ్యూహాత్మక దళాల కమాండ్ ఈ క్షిపణిని 40/60 భోఫోర్స్ గన్‌ను అమర్చారు. ఈ నౌకలో ఆరుగురు అధికారులతోపాటు 34మంది నౌకాదళ సిబ్బంది విధులు నిర్వర్తిస్తారు. వార్తల్లో వ్యక్తులు అమెరికా ఐఎస్‌ఏ అధ్యక్షుడిగా భారత ప్రొ.టి.వి.పాల్ అమెరికాలోని ఇంటర్నేషనల్ స్టడీస్ అసోసియేషన్ (ఐఎస్‌ఏ) 56వ అధ్యక్షుడిగా భారత్‌కు చెందిన ప్రొఫెసర్ టి.వి.పాల్ మార్చి 18న నియమితులయ్యారు. ఐఎస్‌ఏ అనేది మేధావులతో కూడిన ఓ ప్రతిష్టాత్మక సంఘం. కేరళకు చెందిన పాల్ ప్రస్తుతం అందజేస్తున్న సంస్థగా (లీటరుకు 5.46 కిలోమీటర్లు) తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర రోడ్డు రవాణా సంస్థ అవార్డును అందుకుంది. ఇదే సందర్భంలో 2013-14, 2014-15 సంవత్సరాల్లో పోల్చిచూసినపుడు ఏడాదిలో సంస్థ కేఎంపీఎల్ ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి మానవ హక్కుల మండలి (యూన్‌హెచ్‌ఆర్సీ) ఆధ్వర్యంలో ‘మానవహక్కులు, బహుళజాతి సంస్థలు, ఇతర వ్యాపార సంస్థలు’ అనే అంశంపై పనిచేస్తున్న బృందానికి సలహాదారునిగా భారత సంతతి విద్యావేత్త సూర్యదేవా నియమితులయ్యారు. ఆయన్ను ఆసియా-పసిఫిక్ ప్రతినిధిగా యూన్‌హెచ్‌ఆర్సీ నియమించింది. దేవా ప్రస్తుతం హాంకాంగ్‌లోని ఓ యూనివర్సిటీలో అసోసియేట్ ప్రొఫెసర్‌గా పనిచేస్తున్నారు.

లాహోర్‌లో ఆత్మహుతి దాడి: 69 మంది మృతి
పాకిస్తాన్ వాణిజ్య రాజధాని లాహోర్‌లోని ఓ చిన్నపిల్లల పార్కులో ఉగ్రవాదులు జరిపిన ఆత్మహుతి బాంబు దాడిలో 69 మంది దుర్మరణం చెందారు. 300 మందికి పైగా క్షతగాత్రులయ్యారు. పాక్ ప్రధాని నవాజ్ షరీఫ్ సొంత ప్రాంతం, అత్యంత రద్దీగా ఉండే లాహోర్ టౌన్ ప్రాంతంలోని గుల్షన్-ఎ-ఇక్బాల్ పార్క్ ప్రధాన గేటు వద్ద ఓ ఉగ్రవాది ఆత్మాహుతి దాడికి ఒడిగట్టినట్లు పోలీసులు తెలిపారు.

మయన్మార్ అధ్యక్షునిగా టిన్ క్వా ప్రమాణం
మయన్మార్ కొత్త అధ్యక్షునిగా ఆంగ్ సాన్ సూచీ ప్రధాన అనుచరుడు టిన్ క్వా(60) మార్చి 30న ప్రమాణ స్వీకారం చేశారు. క్వా ప్రమాణ స్వీకారంతో 50 ఏళ్ల మిలిటరీ పాలన తర్వాత సూచీ ప్రజాస్వామ్య ఉద్యమంతో మయన్మార్‌లో కొత్త శకానికి పునాది పడినట్లయ్యింది. మరోవైపు సూచీ.. క్వా కేబినెట్‌లో విదేశాంగ శాఖతో పాటు విద్య, ఇంధన, అధ్యక్ష కార్యాలయ శాఖల బాధ్యతలనూ నిర్వర్తించనున్నారు. మాజీ జనరల్ థీన్ సేన్ స్థానంలో టిన్ క్వా కొత్త అధ్యక్షుడిగా బాధ్యతలు స్వీకరించారు. ఆర్మీ తెచ్చిన కొత్త రాజ్యాంగం వల్ల అధ్యక్షురాలయ్యే అవకాశం సూచీ కోల్పోయినా.. క్వా ద్వారా ఆమె పరోక్షంగా దేశాన్ని నడిపించనున్నారు. 2015 నవంబర్‌లో జరిగిన పార్లమెంటు ఎన్నికల్లో సూచీ పార్టీ నేషనల్ లీగ్ ఫర్ డెమోక్రసీ(ఎన్‌ఎల్‌డీ) ఘన విజయం సాధించింది.

సొంతింటి కలకు చేయూత
‘2022 నాటికి ప్రతి కుటుంబానికి పక్కా ఇల్లు’ అమల్లో భాగంగా.. గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లోని నిరుపేదలకు ఇల్లు కట్టుకునేందుకు ఆర్థిక సాయం అందించాలని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయించింది. ప్రధాని నరేంద్రమోదీ అధ్యక్షతన మార్చి 23న సమావేశమైన కేంద్ర కేబినెట్ ఈ మేరకు నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. ప్రధాన మంత్రి గ్రామీణ ఆవాస్ యోజన పథకం కింద మైదాన ప్రాంతాల్లో నివసించే పేద కుటుంబాలకి రూ. 1.20 లక్షలు, పర్వత, కఠిన ప్రాంతాల్లో నివసించే వారికి రూ.1.30 లక్షలను అందించనున్నారు. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా మొత్తం 2.95 కోట్ల ఇళ్లను నిర్మించనున్నారు.

భారత్ నుంచి బంగ్లాదేశ్‌కు 100 మెగావాట్ల విద్యుత్ సరఫరా, ఆ దేశం నుంచి భారత్‌కు 10 జీబీపీఎస్ ఇంటర్నెట్ కనెక్టవిటీలను ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్రమోదీ, బంగ్లాదేశ్ ప్రధాని షేక్ హసీనాలు వీడియో కాన్ఫరెన్స్ ద్వారా మార్చి 23న ప్రారంభించారు. తాజా బ్యాండ్‌విడ్త్ కనెక్టవిటీతో తూర్పు భారత్‌కు ఇంటర్నెట్ గేట్‌వే ఏర్పడింది. ఇప్పటికే దేశంలో పశ్చిమ, దక్షిణ ఇంటర్నేషనల్ ఇంటర్నెట్ గేట్‌వేలు ఉన్నాయి.

అణురియాక్టర్ల ఒప్పందంపై భారత్, ఫ్రాన్స్ సంతకాలు
మహారాష్ట్రలోని జైతాపూర్ వద్ద నిర్మించనున్న ఆరు అణురియాక్టర్లకు సంబంధించిన అవగాహన ఒప్పందంపై భారత్-ఫ్రాన్స్ దేశాలు మార్చి 22న న్యూఢిల్లీలో సంతకాలు చేశాయి. ఈ ఏడాది చివరి నాటికి ప్రాజెక్టుకు సంబంధించి సాంకేతిక, వాణిజ్య సంప్రదింపులన్నీ పూర్తి చేయాలని ఇరు దేశాలు గతంలోనే నిర్ణయించుకున్నాయి. తాజాగా ఫ్రాన్స్‌కు చెందిన ప్రభుత్వ విద్యుత్తు ఉత్పత్తి, సరఫరా సంస్థ(ఈడీఎఫ్) అత్యున్నత స్థాయి ప్రతినిధుల బృందం పర్యటనలో భాగంగా దీనికి సంబంధించిన ఒప్పందంపై సంతకాలు జరిగాయి.

ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లో రాష్ట్రపతి పాలన
ఉత్తరాఖండ్ రాష్ట్రంలో రాష్ట్రపతిపాలన విధిస్తూ కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం మార్చి 27న నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. రాజ్యాంగంలోని ఆర్టికల్ 356 కింద హరీశ్ రావత్ నేతృత్వంలోని కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రభుత్వాన్ని రద్దు చేస్తూ రాష్ట్రపతి ప్రణబ్ ముఖర్జీ సంబంధిత ప్రకటనపై మార్చి 27న సంతకం చేశారు. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వ సిఫార్సు మేరకు శాసనసభను సుప్తచేతనావస్థలో ఉంచారు. మార్చి 18న అధికార కాంగ్రెస్‌కు చెందిన 9 మంది ఎమ్మెల్యేలు తిరుగుబాటు చేయడంతో 26న వీరిపై స్పీకర్ అనర్హత వేటు వేశారు. మార్చి 18న సభలో ప్రభుత్వానికి బలం లేకపోయినప్పటికీ వివాదాస్పద పరిస్థితుల్లో స్పీకర్ ద్రవ్య వినియోగ బిల్లును ఆమోదించారని, ఇలాంటి తరుణంలో రావత్ ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కొనసాగించడం అనైతికమని, రాజ్యాంగ వ్యతిరేకమని కేంద్రం తెలిపింది.

పఠాన్‌కోట్ ఘటనపై భారత్‌కు పాక్ విచారణ బృందం
పఠాన్‌కోట్ ఎయిర్‌బేస్‌పై ఉగ్రదాడి ఘటనను విచారించేందుకు పాకిస్తాన్ నుంచి ఐదుగురు సభ్యులతో కూడిన సంయుక్త విచారణ బృందం (జిట్) మార్చి 27న ప్రత్యేక విమానంలో భారత్‌కు చేరుకుంది. దేశంలో ఉగ్రదాడి ఘటనలకు సంబంధించి విచారణ కోసం విదేశీ అధికారులు భారత్‌ను సందర్శించడం ఇదే తొలిసారి. పఠాన్‌కోట్ ఘటనపై మనదేశానికి చెందిన జాతీయ భద్రతా సంస్థ (ఎన్‌ఐఏ) కూడా విచారణ చేస్తోంది. పాక్ విచారణ బృందంతో పాటు ఎన్‌ఐఏ అధికారులు కూడా మార్చి 29న పఠాన్‌కోట్ ఎయిర్ బేస్‌ను సందర్శించనున్నారు. ఉగ్రవాద నిరోధక ప్రత్యేక విభాగం పంజాబ్ చీఫ్ మహమ్మద్ అజీమ్ అర్షద్ పాకిస్తాన్ విచారణ బృందానికి సారథ్యం వహిస్తున్నారు.

డిఫెక్స్‌పో ఇండియా - 2016 ప్రదర్శన
దక్షిణ గోవాలోని క్యూపెమ్ తాలూకా నకేరి క్విటోల్‌లో 9వ ‘డిఫెక్స్‌పో ఇండియా - 2016’ ప్రదర్శన మార్చి 28న ప్రారంభమైంది. రక్షణ శాఖ మంత్రి మనోహర్ పారికర్ ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ప్రారంభించారు. రెండేళ్లకోమారు నిర్వహించే ఈ అంతర్జాతీయ కార్యక్రమంలో పలురకాల రక్షణ పరికరాలను, ఆయుధాలను ప్రదర్శిస్తారు. దేశ రాజధాని న్యూఢిల్లీలోనే ఈ కార్యక్రమాన్ని నిర్వహించడం ఆనవాయితీ. ప్రగతి మైదాన్‌లో నూతన కన్వెన్షన్ సెంటర్‌ను నిర్మిస్తుండడంతో ఈసారి గోవాలో ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. డిఫెక్స్‌పోను 2000 సంవత్సరం నుంచి నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు. ఇందులో పాల్గొనే దేశ, విదేశీ కంపెనీల సంఖ్య నిరంతరం పెరుగుతూనే ఉంది. 2014 ఫిబ్రవరిలో న్యూఢిల్లీలో నిర్వహించిన 8వ డిఫెక్స్‌పోలో 32 దేశాలకు చెందిన 232 కంపెనీలు, 58 దేశాలకు చెందిన 63 ప్రతినిధి బృందాలు పాల్గొన్నాయి. ప్రస్తుతం గోవాలో జరుగుతున్న ప్రదర్శనలో 47 దేశాలకు చెందిన 1,035 కంపెనీలు పాల్గొంటున్నాయి. అమెరికా, రష్యా, యునెటైడ్ కింగ్‌డమ్, ఆస్ట్రేలియా, బ్రెజిల్, కెనడా, ఈజిప్ట్, ఫిన్‌లాండ్, ఫ్రాన్, జర్మనీ, ఇజ్రాయెల్, జపాన్, స్వీడన్ తదితర దేశాలకు చెందిన కంపెనీలు వీటిలో ఉన్నాయి. ఆసియాలో జరిగే అతిపెద్ద రక్షణ రంగ ప్రదర్శన ఇదే.

జాట్ల రిజర్వేషన్‌కు హరియాణా అసెంబ్లీ ఆమోదం
ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలు, విద్యా సంస్థల్లో జాట్లు, మరో ఐదు కులాలకు 6 శాతం నుంచి 10 శాతం రిజర్వేషన్ కల్పించేందుకు ఉద్దేశించిన రెండు బిల్లులకు హరియాణా అసెంబ్లీ మార్చి 29న ఏకగ్రీవ ఆమోదం తెలిపింది. దీంతో జాట్ కులంతో పాటు జాట్ సిక్కు, రోర్, బిష్ణోయి, త్యాగీ, ముల్లా జాట్/ముస్లిం జాట్ కులాలకు రిజర్వేషన్ కల్పించనున్నారు. హరియాణా వెనకబడిన వర్గాల (ఉద్యోగాలు, విద్యాసంస్థల్లో ప్రవేశాలకు రిజర్వేషన్) బిల్లు-2016, హరియాణా వెనకబడిన వర్గాల కమిషన్ బిల్లు-2016ను సీఎం మనోహర్ లాల్ ఖట్టర్ సభలో ప్రవేశపెట్టగా సభ్యులంతా ఏకగ్రీవంగా ఆమోదం తెలిపారు. బిల్లులో బీసీ బ్లాక్ ఏ, బీసీ బ్లాక్ బీ, బీసీ బ్లాక్ సీలకు చట్టపరమైన హోదా కల్పించాలని రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం ప్రతిపాదించింది. దీనికి ఆమోదం తెలిపి రాజ్యాంగంలోని 9వ షెడ్యూల్ (రెడ్‌విత్ ఆర్టికల్ 31బి)లో చేర్చాలని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వానికి విజ్ఞప్తి చేసింది.

మోదీ మూడు దేశాల పర్యటన
మూడు దేశాల పర్యటన నిమిత్తం భారత ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ మార్చి 29వ తేదీ రాత్రి బెల్జియం బయలుదేరి వెళ్లారు. బెల్జియం రాజధాని బ్రసెల్స్‌లో జరిగే 13వ భారత్-యూరోపియన్ యూనియన్ సదస్సులో ఆయన పాల్గొంటారు. అక్కడి నుంచి వాషింగ్టన్‌కు వెళ్తారు. మార్చి 31, ఏప్రిల్ 1న అక్కడ జరిగే ‘అణు భద్రతా సదస్సు’లో పాల్గొంటారు. అనంతరం సౌదీ అరేబియాకు వెళ్తారు. ఏప్రిల్ 2, 3 తేదీల్లో సౌదీలో మోదీ పర్యటన సాగుతుంది.

రైలు టిక్కెట్టు రద్దుకు ‘139’
ప్రయాణికులు రైలు టిక్కెట్టును రద్దు చేసుకోవడానికి భారతీయ రైల్వే శాఖ 139 నంబర్‌ను అందుబాటులోకి తెచ్చింది. ఈ ఏడాది ఏప్రిల్ నుంచి రైల్ టిక్కెట్టు రద్దుకు 139కి కాల్‌చేసి వివరాలు చెప్తే వన్ టైం పాస్‌వర్డ్ (ఓటీపీ) పొందవచ్చు. అదే రోజు కౌంటర్ వద్ద ఓటీపీ వివరాలు చెప్పి టిక్కెట్టు డబ్బులు తిరిగి పొందవచ్చు.

తెలంగాణలోని వ్యవసాయ మార్కెట్లలో వైఫై
ఆన్‌లైన్ ద్వారా ధరలను కోట్ చేసి పంటలను కొనుగోలు చేసేందుకు తెలంగాణలో 44 వ్యవసాయ మార్కెట్లను ఎంపిక చేశారు. వీటిలో వైఫై సౌకర్యం కల్పించనున్నారు. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా వ్యవసాయ మార్కెట్లను ఆన్‌లైన్ ద్వారా అనుసంధానం చేసే ‘జాతీయ నెట్‌వర్క్ ఏర్పాటు’ కార్యక్రమాన్ని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం చేపట్టింది. ఇందులో భాగంగా తొలి దశలో తెలంగాణలోని ఐదు పెద్ద మార్కెట్లలో ఈ వ్యవస్థను ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు టెండర్లు ఆహ్వానించారు.

రాజధాని భవనాల మాస్టర్ ఆర్కిటెక్ట్‌గా ‘ఫుమిహికో మకి అసోసియేట్స్’
అమరావతిలో ప్రభుత్వ భవనాల సముదాయం నిర్మాణానికి మాస్టర్ ఆర్కిటెక్ట్‌గా జపాన్‌కు చెందిన ఫుమిహికో మకి అసోసియేట్స్ ఎంపికైంది. ఈ మేరకు ఏపీ సీఎం చంద్రబాబునాయుడు మార్చి 25న ప్రకటించారు. మకి అసోసియేట్స్ ఐకానిక్ కట్టడాలుగా గుర్తించిన అసెంబ్లీ (లెజిస్లేచర్), హైకోర్టు భవనాలకు తుది డిజైన్లను రూపొందిస్తుంది. మిగిలిన కట్టడాలకు సంబంధించి మార్గదర్శకాలను అందజేయనుంది.

బంగ్లాదేశ్ నుంచి కృష్ణపట్నం నౌక సేవలు ప్రారంభం
బంగ్లాదేశ్-భారత్‌ల ద్వైపాక్షిక సంబంధాల్లో భాగంగా 1974లో అప్పటి భారత ప్రధాని ఇందిరా గాంధీ కుదుర్చుకున్న జల రవాణా ఒప్పందం 42 ఏళ్ల తర్వాత మార్చి 28న వాస్తవ రూపం దాల్చింది. 2015లో ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ బంగ్లాదేశ్ పర్యటనలో ఈ ఒప్పందాన్ని పునరుద్ధరించాలని నిర్ణయించారు. ఇందులో భాగంగా బంగ్లాదేశ్ నుంచి ‘నీసా పారిబాహన్’ సంస్థకు చెందిన ఎం.వి. హార్బర్ నౌక మార్చి 23న బయలుదేరి 28న కృష్ణపట్నం పోర్టుకు చేరుకుంది. దీని ద్వారా తొలిసారిగా 40 టీఈయూ (ట్వంటీ ఫుట్ ఈక్వలెంట్ యూనిట్) పత్తిని బంగ్లాదేశ్‌లోని ఐసీటీ పన్‌గాన్ రేవుకు పంపుతున్నారు.

పట్టిసీమ ఎత్తిపోతల పథకం ప్రారంభం
ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లోని పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లా పోలవరం మండలంలో పట్టిసీమ ఎత్తిపోతల పథకాన్ని ఆ రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు మార్చి 28న లాంఛనంగా ప్రారంభించారు. ఏడాది లోపు ఈ ప్రాజెక్టును పూర్తిచేశామని ఆయన చెప్పారు. పట్టిసీమ వద్ద 200 ఎకరాల భూమిని మెగా ఇంజనీరింగ్ కంపెనీకి ఇస్తామని, ఆ భూమిలో గార్డెన్‌ను అభివృద్ధి చేయాలని చంద్రబాబు పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న వీరభద్రస్వామి గుడికి సీఎం రూ.70 లక్షలు మంజూరు చేశారు.

హైదరాబాద్‌లో అమెజాన్ భారీ క్యాంపస్
అంతర్జాతీయ ఈ-కామర్స్ దిగ్గజం ‘అమెజాన్’ సంస్థ హైదరాబాద్‌లో భారీ క్యాంపస్ ఏర్పాటు చేస్తోంది. నానక్‌రామ్‌గూడలోని ఐటీ, ఐటీఈఎస్ సెజ్ వద్ద నిర్మిస్తున్న ఈ క్యాంపస్‌కు తెలంగాణ ఐటీ మంత్రి కె.తారకరామారావు మార్చి 30న శంకుస్థాపన చేశారు. ఈ క్యాంపస్ ద్వారా ప్రత్యక్షంగా 14,000 మందికి ఉపాధి లభించనున్నట్లు అంచనా. అమెజాన్ క్యాంపస్ కోసం ప్రభుత్వం 10 ఎకరాల స్థలాన్ని కేటాయించింది. అందులో భారత్‌తో పాటు అంతర్జాతీయ కార్యకలాపాలకు బ్యాక్ ఆఫీస్‌గా ఉండటం కోసం రూ.1,400 కోట్లతో 28 లక్షల చదరపు అడుగుల విస్తీర్ణంలో అమెజాన్ కార్యాలయాన్ని నిర్మిస్తోంది. అమెరికా తరువాత అమెజాన్ సంస్థకు ఇదే అతి పెద్ద కేంద్రం కావడం గమనార్హం.

కరెన్సీ నోటుకు స్వదేశీ కాగితం
మన కరెన్సీ నోటు ముద్రణకు అవసరమైన కాగితాన్ని ఇకపై మనమే తయారుచేసుకోనున్నాం. దీని వల్ల వేల కోట్ల విదేశీ మారక ద్రవ్యం మిగలనుంది. భారతీయ రిజర్వ్ బ్యాంక్ నోట్ ముద్రణా ప్రైవేట్ లిమిటెడ్ (బీఆర్‌బీఎన్‌ఎంఎల్) మైసూరులోని మేటగళ్లి ప్రాంతంలో 35 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణంలో కరెన్సీ ప్రింటింగ్‌కు సంబంధించిన కాగితపు పరిశ్రమను ప్రారంభించింది. ఏడాదికి 12 వేల మెట్రిక్ టన్నుల సామర్థ్యం కలిగిన కాగిత పరిశ్రమ ఏర్పాటుతో ఏడాదికి రూ.1,280 కోట్ల విదేశీ మారక ద్రవ్యం మిగులుతుందని బీఆర్‌బీఎన్‌ఎంఎల్ డెరైక్టర్ జగన్మోహన్ తెలిపారు.

ఏటా దేశంలో లక్షల మంది పిల్లల ప్రాణాలను బలిగొంటున్న అతిసార నియంత్రణకు కేంద్రం కీలకచర్య తీసుకుంది. భువనేశ్వర్‌లో మార్చి 26న జరిగిన ఓ కార్యక్రమంలో కేంద్ర ఆరోగ్య శాఖ మంత్రి జేపీ నడ్డా రోటా వైరస్ వ్యాక్సిన్‌ను విడుదల చేశారు. యూనివర్సల్ ఇమ్యునైజేషన్ పోగ్రామ్ (యూపీఐ)లో భాగంగా.. పోలియో, మశూచి, రోటా వైరస్, అడల్ట్ జపనీస్ ఎన్సెఫిలిటీస్ వ్యాధులకు వ్యాక్సిన్‌ను అందుబాటులోకి తెచ్చినట్లు వెల్లడించారు. రోటా వైరస్ వ్యాక్సిన్ టీకాను తొలి విడతలో.. ఏపీ, ఒడిశా, హరియాణా, హిమాచల్ ప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రాల్లోని ప్రజా ఆరోగ్య కేంద్రాల్లో ఉచితంగా అందుబాటులో ఉంచనున్నారు.

తెలంగాణ రవాణ శాఖ ‘ఎం-వాలెట్’ యాప్
దేశంలోనే తొలిసారిగా రవాణాకు సంబంధించిన డాక్యుమెంట్లతో తెలంగాణ రవాణా శాఖ ఓ మొబైల్ వాలెట్ యాప్‌ను రూపొందించింది. రాష్ట్ర ఐటీ మంత్రి కె.తారకరామారావు ఈ ఆర్‌టీఏ ఎం-వాలెట్ యాప్‌ను మార్చి 30న ఆవిష్కరించారు. పోలీసులు లేదా రవాణా అధికారులు తనిఖీ చేస్తే మొబైల్‌లో ఉన్న ఈ యాప్‌ను ఓపెన్ చేసి అవసరమైన డాక్యుమెంట్లను వారికి చూపించవచ్చు. ప్రయాణిస్తున్న వాహనం రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ పత్రాలతో పాటు డ్రైవింగ్ లెసైన్స్‌ను ఈ యాప్‌లో భద్రపరచుకోవచ్చు. దీని కోసం అన్ని రకాల ఆండ్రాయిడ్, విండోస్ ఫోన్లలో ఆర్‌టీఏ ఎం-వాలెట్‌ను డౌన్‌లోడ్ చేసుకోవచ్చు.

ఆసియాలో అతిపెద్ద టెలిస్కోప్ ఆవిష్కరణ
బెల్జియం సాయంతో నిర్మించిన ఆసియాలోనే అతిపెద్ద టెలిస్కోప్ ‘ఆర్యభట్ట రీసెర్చ్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ అబ్జర్వేషనల్ సెన్సైస్(ఎరీస్)’ను భారత ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ, బెల్జియం ప్రధాని చార్లెస్ మిచెల్ కలసి రిమోట్‌తో ఆవిష్కరించారు. 3.6 మీటర్ల వెడల్పుగల ప్రాథమిక కటకం ఉన్న టెలిస్కోప్‌ను ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లోని నైనితాల్‌కు దగ్గరలోని దేవస్థల్ వద్ద నిర్మించారు. అయితే ప్రస్తుతం బెల్జియం పర్యటనలో ఉన్న మోదీ బ్రసెల్స్ నుంచి ఆ దేశ ప్రధానితో కలసి ఈ టెలిస్కోప్‌ను ప్రారంభించారు. అంతకు ముందు ఇరు దేశాల ద్వైపాక్షిక అంశాలపై మోదీ, చార్లెస్ చర్చించారు. బ్రసెల్స్‌లో మార్చి 22న జరిగిన ఉగ్రదాడి మృతులకు మోదీ నివాళులర్పించారు. ఆత్మాహుతి దాడి జరిగిన మాల్‌బీక్ మెట్రో స్టేషన్ వద్ద పుష్పగుచ్ఛాలు ఉంచి మౌనం పాటించారు.

ఇంటెల్ సంస్థ మాజీ చైర్మన్ గ్రోవ్ మృతి
ఇంటెల్ సంస్థను ప్రపంచంలోనే అతిపెద్ద కంప్యూటర్ చిప్ సంస్థగా తీర్చిదిద్దిన ఆండ్రేవ్ గ్రోవ్ (76) మార్చి 22న అమెరికాలో మృతి చెందారు. 1968లో ఇంటెల్ సంస్థను ప్రారంభించిన తర్వాత ఆ సంస్థలో చేరిన తొలి వ్యక్తి గ్రోవ్. ఆయన పరిశోధనలు, ఉత్పత్తిలో పాల్గొనడంతో పాటు 2014 వరకు ఇంటెల్ చైర్మన్‌గా వ్యవహరించారు. టైమ్ పత్రిక 1997లో ఆండ్రేవ్ గ్రోవ్‌ను మ్యాన్ ఆఫ్ ద ఇయర్‌గా ఎంపిక చేసింది.

బోస్నియా సెర్బె మాజీ నాయకుడు రాదోవన్ కరద్‌జిక్‌కు 40 ఏళ్లు శిక్ష
బోస్నియా సెర్బె మాజీ నాయకుడు రాదోవన్ కరద్‌జిక్‌కు ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితికి చెందిన ఇంటర్నేషనల్ క్రిమినల్ ట్రిబ్యునల్ మార్చి 24న 40 ఏళ్ల శిక్ష విధించింది. 1995లో సెర్బెనికా రాష్ట్రంలో జరిగిన 8,000 మంది ముస్లింల ఊచకోత ఘటన కు సంబంధించి కోర్టు కరద్‌జిక్‌ను నిందితునిగా తేల్చింది.

ఆనందగజపతిరాజు కన్నుమూత
విజయనగరం పూసపాటి రాజవంశీయుడు, మాజీ మంత్రి, మాన్సాస్ ట్రస్టు చైర్మన్ పూసపాటి ఆనంద గజపతిరాజు (66) మార్చి 26న కన్నుమూశారు. 1983లో రాజకీయాల్లోకి ప్రవేశించిన ఆనంద్‌గజపతిరాజు రాష్ట్ర మంత్రిగా, రెండుసార్లు ఎంపీగా పనిచేశారు. 1950 జూలై 17న విజయనగరం మహారాజు పి.వి.జి.రాజు, కుసుమ గజపతి ప్రథమ సంతానంగా జన్మించిన ఈయనకు సోదరుడు అశోక్ గజపతిరాజు, సోదరి సునీతాదేవి ఉన్నారు. గ్వాలియర్‌లో స్కూల్ విద్యాభ్యాసం కొనసాగగా.. మద్రాస్ లయోలాలో కళాశాల, అమెరికా స్టెట్సన్ యూనివర్సిటీ, ఆంధ్రా యూనివర్సిటీలో ఉన్నత విద్యాభ్యాసం చేశారు. హ్యూమనిస్టిక్ స్టడీస్ అంశంలో అమెరికాలోని ఫ్లోరిడాకు చెందిన ఇంటర్ అమెరికన్ యూనివర్సిటీ 2003లో ఆయనకు గౌరవ డాక్టరేట్ ప్రదానం చేసింది. 2009లో ఆంధ్రా వర్సిటీ నుంచి పీహెచ్‌డీ డాక్టరేట్ అందుకున్నారు. ‘రాజకీయ అర్థశాస్త్రంలో దారితప్పిన ఆలోచనలు’ అనే పుస్తకాన్ని 2014లో రాశారు.

‘గిన్నిస్’లో గాన కోకిల పి.సుశీల
ప్రముఖ సినీ నేపథ్య గాయని పి. సుశీల గిన్నిస్ వరల్డ్ రికార్డ్స్‌లో చోటు సంపాదించారు. 2016 జనవరి 28 నాటికి ధ్రువీకరించిన సమాచారం ప్రకారం పులపాక సుశీలా మోహన్ (జననం 1935 - ఇండియా) 1960ల నుంచి ఆరుకు పైగా భారతీయ భాషల్లో 17,695 సోలో, డ్యూయట్, కోరస్ సహకారమున్న పాటలు రికార్డ్ చేశారని గిన్నీస్‌బుక్ ఆఫ్ వరల్డ్ రికార్డ్స్ వారు పేర్కొన్నారు. 1952లో తమిళ చిత్రం ‘పెట్రతాయి’ (తెలుగులో ‘కన్నతల్లి’) ద్వారా సినీ సీమకు గాయనిగా పరిచయమైన సుశీల ఇప్పటి దాకా తెలుగు, తమిళ, కన్నడ, మలయాళ తదితర భాషల్లో సినీ, ప్రైవేట్ గీతాలన్నీ కలిపి దాదాపు 40 వేల పాటలు పాడినట్లు ఒక అంచనా. ఈమెకు భారత ప్రభుత్వం ‘పద్మభూషణ్’, ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ ప్రభుత్వం ‘రఘుపతి వెంకయ్య అవార్డు’ ఇచ్చి గౌరవించాయి. ఇప్పటికి ఐదు సార్లు ఉత్తమ సినీ నేపథ్య గాయనిగా ఆమెను జాతీయ అవార్డులు వరించాయి.

పద్మ అవార్డులు ప్రదానం
వివిధ రంగాల్లో విశేష కృషి చేసిన 56 మంది ప్రముఖులకు రాష్ట్రపతి ప్రణబ్ ముఖర్జీ మార్చి 28న పద్మ అవార్డులను అందించారు. రిలయన్స్ వ్యవస్థాపకుడు దివంగత ధీరూబాయి అంబానీ తరపున ఆయన భార్య కోకిలాబెన్ పురస్కారాన్ని అందుకున్నారు. అంబానీతో పాటు ఆర్థికవేత్త అవినాశ్ కమలాకర్ దీక్షిత్, జమ్ముకశ్మీర్ మాజీ గవర్నర్ జగ్‌మోహన్, ఆర్ట్ ఆఫ్ లివింగ్ సంస్థ వ్యవస్థాపకులు శ్రీ శ్రీ రవిశంకర్, ప్రఖ్యాత నృత్యకారిణి యామినీ కృష్ణమూర్తిలకు పద్మవిభూషణ్ ప్రదానం చేశారు. పద్మభూషణ్ అందుకున్న వారిలో పల్లోంజీ షాపూర్‌జీ మిస్త్రీ, సైనా నెహ్వాల్, ప్రముఖ ఉదరకోశ వైద్య నిపుణుడు డాక్టర్ జి.నాగేశ్వర్‌రెడ్డి తదితరులున్నారు. బాలీవుడ్ నటుడు అజయ్ దేవ్‌గణ్, పకృతి వ్యవసాయ వేత్త సుభాష్ పాలేకర్, ప్రముఖ వైద్యుడు యార్లగడ్డ నాయుడమ్మ తదితరులు.. పద్మశ్రీ అవార్డును అందుకున్నారు. మొత్తం ఐదుగురికి పద్మవిభూషణ్, ఎనిమిది మందికి పద్మభూషణ్, 44 మందికి పద్మశ్రీ పురస్కారాలను అందజేశారు. పురస్కార గ్రీహ తల్లో ఎనిమిది మంది తెలుగువారున్నారు.

జాతీయ ఉత్తమ చిత్రంగా బాహుబలి
తొలిసారి తెలుగు సినిమా జాతీయ ఉత్తమ చిత్రంగా ఎంపికైంది. 2015కి గానూ మార్చి 28న ప్రకటించిన 63వ జాతీయ చలన చిత్ర అవార్డుల్లో బాహుబలి ఉత్తమ చిత్రం అవార్డును దక్కించుకుంది. ఈ చిత్రం విజువల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌తో కలిపి మొత్తం రెండు అవార్డును సొంతం చేసుకుంది. దీంతో 1953 నుంచి ప్రకటిస్తున్న ఈ అవార్డుల్లో.. ఉత్తమ చిత్రం పురస్కారం అందుకున్న తొలి తెలుగు సినిమాగా బాహుబలి నిలిచింది. ఉత్తమ ప్రాంతీయ చిత్రం (తెలుగు)గా కంచె సినిమా ఎంపికైంది. హిందీ చిత్రం బాజీరావ్ మస్తానీకి మొత్తం ఏడు కేటగిరీల్లో అవార్డులు దక్కాయి.

క్రీడలు
హాకీ ఇండియా ఉత్తమ క్రీడాకారులుగా శ్రీజేష్, దీపిక
హాకీ ఇండియా 2015 వార్షిక అవార్డులను మార్చి 26న బెంగళూరులో ప్రదానం చేశారు. ఉత్తమ క్రీడాకారులకు రూ.25 లక్షల నగదు బహూకరించారు.

ప్రముఖ ఫుట్‌బాల్ మాజీ ప్లేయర్ యోహాన్ క్రాఫ్ మృతి
నెదర్లాండ్స్‌కు చెందిన ప్రముఖ ఫుట్‌బాల్ మాజీ క్రీడాకారుడు యోహాన్ క్రాఫ్ (68) క్యాన్సర్‌తో మార్చి 24న మరణించారు. క్రాఫ్.. 1974లో నెదర్లాండ్ ఫిఫా వరల్డ్ కప్ ఫైనల్‌కు చేరడంలో కీలకపాత్ర పోషించాడు. ఆయన ప్లేయర్ ఆఫ్ ద టోర్నమెంట్‌గా గోల్డెన్ బాల్ అందుకోవడంతో పాటు మూడుసార్లు యూరోపియన్ కప్ గెలిచిన నెదర్లాండ్ జట్టులో సభ్యుడిగా ఉన్నారు.
