Ravi Shastri to miss India's warm-up match due to Ashes commitments

The Indian cricket team's director, Ravi Shastri, will be joining Virat Kohli and his colleagues in Sri Lanka only four days before the start of the first Test in Galle as he is currently serving as a television analyst with Sky Sports for the 2015 Ashes series. Shastri, who missed the Zimbabwe series for the same reason, would have been with the Indian team for their preparations for the three Tests against Sri Lanka, had the series not been advanced by ten days.
Meanwhile, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have not awarded contracts to the assistant coaches of the Indian team as they are still contemplating on the future of Shastri as team director. Before India's tour of Bangladesh, Shastri, bowling coach Bharath Arun, batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar were promised extensions by BCCI, but the board is yet to arrive at a decision, according to an ESPNCricinfo report.
The website reported that Shastri's absencehas not gone down well with some members of BCCI, who feel his media commitments sends a wrong signal. However, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur do not have any issues with Shastri's conflict as he had intimated the board before hand.
While Shastri and the assistant coaches' long-term appointments have been put on hold, it is reported that BCCI has spoken to a couple of overseas candidates for the head coach's role. The cricket advisory committee, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, is likely to interview them in September.
