Asia is the largest continent in the world with a total area of 17,212,000 square miles (44,579,000 sq km) and a 2010 population estimate of 3,870,000,000 people. According to Wikipedia.org, most of Asia is in the northern and eastern hemispheres and it covers about 8.6% of the Earth's surface. Asia has a varied topography that consists of the world's highest mountains, the Himalayas, to places with very low elevations.
