Nagaland Information Commission has been regarded as one of the best of its kind in the entire country. This was revealed by the Nagaland Information Commissioner during the decade celebration of RTI Act.
- The Right to Information Act (RTI) is an Act of the Parliament of India “to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens” and replaces the erstwhile Freedom of information Act, 2002.
President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday inaugurated the National conference of Women legislators at Vigyan Bhawan. Vice president Hamid Ansari and PM Narendra Modi were also present in the event.
- The conference, hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra mahajan, is being attended by former President Pratibha Patil, Union ministersSushma Swaraj, Najma Heptullah and Maneka Gandhi, Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel, former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, among others
- In an effort to make Indian Railways technology driven, the national transporter will set up its in-house research wing,SRESHTA, comprising of mostly scientists and railway experts.
The Uttar Pradesh government passed the UP revenue code amendment bill that facilitates Dalits to sell their land to Non-Dalits.
- The Pre-British era revenue law was replaced by UP Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2016
- The amendment allows Dalit people to sell their land to Non-Dalits
- The bill was presented in the legislative assembly by Revenue minister Shivpal Singh Yadav
Maharashtra Government has formed a high-powered committee headed by Chief secretary Swadhi Kshatriya to ensure that the MoU s signed during the make in India week fructify.
- The Committee will have sub-committee to monitor and report the progress on the MoUs signed. In the Make in India last month held in Mumbai over 2500 MoUs were signed.
- These MoUs progress will be monitored by the Concerned Department while the rest officials will be reviewed and monitored by Head committee.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on February 13 inaugurated the maiden Make in India week in Mumbai.
- The Weeklong event has secured investment commitments worth Rs. 15.2 lakh crore with Maharashtra alone accounting half of it of Rs. 8 lakh crore.
- Out of the total commitment pie, 30 percent have come from foreign players.
Government of India will digitalise all the 1.29 lakh rural post offices by 2017.Department of Post IT Modernisation project will get Rs. 4909 crore outlay for digitalisation and Networking of 155, 000 post offices including 129, 323 Gramin Dak Sewak Post Offices in the country.
- The Project envisages Computerisation and networking of all postal mail, accounts and administrative offices through WAN (Wide Area Network) also to set up centralised data centre and Disaster recovery centre.
- Infosys is the Service provider for rural system integrator and Telecommunication Consultant India ltd is the lead partner with Ricoh India ltd for Hardware & Maintenance.
- Digitalisation will be through handled Computing device that connects all the Post offices with a Sim card based Network and Power back up from Solar Based systems.The CBS services is being implemented in all the 25, 297 departmental post offices.
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
The members of the US religious commission seeking to investigate the declining religious independence in the country have been denied the Indian Visa.
- The members of the commission prepare reports on Religious Freedom in various countries across the globe.
UN Refugee Agency and UNICEF are setting up special support centres to ensure protection for the growing numbers of children and others with specific needs arriving in Europe.
- Twenty Child and Family Support Centres known as Blue Dots will provide a safe space for children and their families.
- The Dedicated Hubs aim to support vulnerable families, unaccompanied or separated children at risk of sickness, trauma, violence, exploitation and trafficking.
- Blue Dot centres come at a time when women and children account for two thirds of those crossing Europe. In February around 60% women and children used sea route seeking Refugee status.
- These Hubs aim to identify and protect children and adolescents travelling alone, and reunite them with family wherever possible.

Jalandhar based Capital Local Area Bank Limited has given small financial bank licence by the Reserve Bank of India, The Operation of the Bank will kick start from April 13, 2016.
- Punjab based company is the first among ten players to get final licence from the Bankers Bank. The Bank currently serving as a local area bank.
- CLABL would renamed Capital Small Finance Bank Limited on April 13 2016.
- Capital Local Bank is largest local bank in the country, with 44 branches in five districts of Punjab
Small finance banks will provide banking products to the unserved and undeserved sections of the country, which includes small and marginal farmers, micro and small industries, and other organized sector entities, at an affordable cost.
- Every Bank which got the in principal approval to set up Small Finance Bank will have Small Finance bank in its name.
- They cannot set up subsidiaries to undertake non-banking financial service activities
- 75% of its Adjusted Net Bank Credit (ANBC) should be advanced to the priority sector as stated by RBI.
- Maximum amount that these banks can lend is 10% oftotal capital funds, in case of group it is 15%.

due to arsenic content in ground water. It is generally agreed that arsenic contamination
is of geological origin and derives from the geological strata
underlying Bangladesh. Hence, it becomes necessary to mitigate such
contamination in rural households in both the nations.- A milestone achievement in this regard has been made by an IIT Kharagpur Professor,Sirshendu De, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department for developing Low Cost Eco-friendly Laterite based Arsenic Filter for Providing Safe Drinking Water.

- This is for the first time in12 years in women’s Tables Tennis history. The team beat Luxemburg 3-1 in the second division final before their male counterparts overcame a stiff competition from Brazil.
Beverage giant PepsiCo entered into a four year partnership with the country’s apex cricket body BCCI as an associate sponsor for all its International Matches played at home.
- The deal would make PepsiCo as BCCI’s official partner for refreshment, Snacks and drinks besides grounds right where the PepsiCo would have visibility on the playing field.
- The deal comes from PepsiCo a year after the company dismissed its five-year title sponsorship deal of the IPL citing credibility issues.
- BCCI has created three new associate sponsorship opportunities apart from the position of title sponsorship for Tests, ODI internationals and T20 internationals in the country.
- The deal would add Rs. 150 crore to the board’s coffers over four years. The mentioned sum is the cumulative sum of three deals the other two sponsor deals are in the pipeline of BCCI.

OBITUARY
Pat Conroy, Prince of Tides and Great Santini Author, Dies At 70Legendary Novelist Pat Conroyserved as an unending sources of inspiration for his fiction notably the novels The Great Santini, The Lords of Discipline and the Princes of Tides died on Friday.
- He announced last month that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer, He was 70.
- Conroy was born on 26 October 1945 in Atlanta US. He graduated from The Citadel from the Military College, South Carolina.
- In 1976 Conroy published his first novel The Great Santini. He was a New York Times bestselling American Author who wrote several acclaimed novels and memories.
- Two of his novels The Prince of tides and The Great Santini were made Oscar dominated films
